Mother Well is a dedicated wellness and healing arts space supporting the emotional, physical, and nervous system needs of mothers while accommodating their children in a community-style setting. It’s a place for mothers to come as they are. We need to address the maternal mental health crisis in our modern society. We aim to prevent maternal burnout & mental health issues by fostering community-based support & restoration.

Why Mother Well?
1 in 5 mothers are navigating anxiety & depression in the United States.
Some uncomfortable statistics that need to be addressed as a society to improve overall emotional, social, and mental well-being, in mothers & families:
20% of maternal deaths are due to suicide
Postpartum depression has raised 10% since 2010
Approximately 35% of women have birth trauma, leading to mental health disorders
Less than 20% of women are screened for mental health issues postpartum, so all of these statistics are likely higher in reality
Gen Z mamas are 2x more likely to experience mental health issues than Boomers were
Approximately 75% of mamas suffering from mental health issues are struggling in silence and without support

Mothers are in need of support & community. Isolation during the perinatal period increases the risk of mental health issues.
According to the Maternal Mental Health (MMH) Leadership Alliance, “most MMH conditions are temporary and treatable. Almost all women who experience MMH conditions can recover with a combination of self-care, social support, therapy/counseling, and sometimes medication.”
Giving mothers more accessibility to meet their need for connection & self care would be huge steps to resolve a crisis that we’re experiencing right now.
The biggest barrier to accessing support is shame & denial; as well as lack of resources like childcare.
Mother Well came to conception during my third postpartum. Feeling the way I’ve felt in every postpartum: isolated, sad, lonely, confused, and desperately needing support, while tending to my babies.
I thought to myself…“If only there was a place I could go to for self care and connection with other women…where my child is just as welcomed as me. Somewhere I can address my needs without having to separate from my child and find childcare.”

Currently, we are hosting workshops and mother circles virtually. We’re raising money to open up a physical location in Beacon, NY with plans to expand across the nation so that all mothers can have a Mother Well accessible to them.
-
For virtual classes, babies are of course welcomed in your space & instructors are mindful that babies might be present. When classes begin in person, there will be childcare available!
-
We offer sliding scale pricing for those in need and we have a fund available to offer scholarships for those who cannot afford resources.
-
Yes. This space is focused on serving mothers and babies; however from time to time there might be men in the space assisting and serving women whether in the cafe or the community space. Classes will be strictly women-only.
